FMU ?

Hey I'm new to the whole boost thing and i was wondering if you have to get a FMU. I already have an adjustable fuel pressure regulartor on my car. I dont plan on boosting over 6 psi for now. I did every thing so far my self and its all ready to be put on i just need to know about the FMU

Re: FMU ?

okay he didn't explain it to well. u do not need an fmu if u change ur injectors/chip ur ecu. all new people start off with fmu's n they come back with stories on "why did my motor blow i was only boosting 6psi" n blah blah blah. research a lil more n try to choose another route but if u must. fmu is needed with no other management.

Re: FMU ?

id think it'd be just as expensive to chip your ecu as to buy a fmu if you use uberdata or something nowadays

Re: FMU ?

why the hell do you need $550??? what the hell haha. chip ur ecu man.. fine tune with real management. you'll be usin the fmu for 6 months if ur motor last that long lol. if u have no money to finish then don't turbo it yet...

Re: FMU ?

Ok so an FMU is a piece of ----. but can i run the turbo with just an adjustable fuel pressure regulator for now?

Re: FMU ?

you could, but I'd reccomend just getting your ecu chipped and get some injectors of here. its the safe way to go.

i just got some DSM injectors. i dont have an FMU and not planning on getting one. I think im going to just chip the ecu. But for now is it safe to run it with the adjustable pressure regulator? Im only going to run it like that for a month till i can get it chiped

this is what a set of 450's and a vafc will do for you at 7psi

so do you self a favor if you like your motor, and chip the computer!!

Re: FMU ?

no you can not run boost with jus a 1:1 adjustable fuel pressure regulator. the fmu will atleast raise fuel pressure hoping to give a lil more fuel when in boost. then adjustable fpr does nothing for you when in boost... ur better off with an fmu then nothing at all. why not jus wait a month for the ecu?

Re: FMU ?

Re: FMU ?

Well, Im kinda lost now. I just got my FMU in yesterday and i know it sucks! ive heard it over and over again. I have had multiple ppl tell me that my car(D16Y8, 14b) will run(like ----) when i have the FMU.
I just wanna know if my car will run on 5-6-7 psi for about 4 months without blowing up?

I figured it was ok because:

Re: FMU ?

It should be fine on 5psi for a few months...but it also depends on a lot of other factors. Like what kind of shape the motor is in, how well its been taken care of...how much do you beat on it and take it to redline. You know...
