Nissan maf's = bigger fail than DSM maf's. What these people don't realize is that the littlest addition in line with the maf will screw up the entire scaling of it and throw everything out of whack with the ecu and tune. That's why intake companies make intakes for maf-based cars with ludicrous stories of ludicrous power gains just from "their intake"...because more than likely "their intake" has so thoroughly screwed up the maf scaling and frequency that it takes the stock tune that's normally very rich to keep it safe and ends up leaning it out and advancing timing in the process. Unless the maf is rescaled to properly match by logging the short term/mid term/long term fuel trims , most "rediculously mad powers gained jdm intakessss" act like nothing more than an AFC. And see my sig to see what Joey and myself think of AFC's. :P Unfortunately every maf has a different algorithm depending on ecu as well, so rescaling can become quite a PITA.

Even GM blow-through mafs have their downsides, and although they tend to read part-throttle cruising and idling very well, they loose their resolution a bit under boost.

They bring me a bunch of NisTune. It works better for some cars than others. Nobody listens to me about where to stick the goddamn MAF, and it's always two inches before the TB with only the diameter of the recirc pipe seperating the two = fail fail fail. All the Nissan guys think a car that sputters and stalls, even if you tap the gas pedal, after boosting is normal as day and night and look confused when you tell them it doesn't have to be that way. :1 If it were mine I'd sell every SR20 swap for a KA24DE with BC cams and run a $350 used AEM with the AEM CAS disc that I bitched at AEM until they gave it to me for free - cheaper than a NisTune daughterboard.

I'm going to start tacking on a $150 "ignorant MAF placement after being told how to do it correctly for $10 extra in materials and no extra time" surcharge.

Don't get me started on the STi owner circus. Half are good dudes who want sweet rides, the other half are nightmares. MAF cars, and the people who like them.
