ECU Swap probs...

i have a stock '89 CRX Si (well, it has a K&N cone intake). but i swapped out my '89 si ecu, with a '90 si ecu (getting ready for a new fuel map), and i'm running full rich on my a/f gauge at idle. i pulled the hazard fuse, and reset it, but it's still full rich. i haven't taken it out to drive it yet, since i have a few other things i'm working on right now. although, if i rev it up a bit, it goes to stoich, then back to rich. also the engine was at 1/2 temp gauge when it was reading rich. it starts to idle at about 2K, and then works down to about 800-900 (20 to 30 seconds time span), and stays steady, but still reading rich the whole time. any thoughts. i'll post more when i can drive it around the block and see what it says.

My car will always run rich at idle. The 02 sensor is not working when you first start the car up. If it still reads rich after the car is warmed up then you have a problem. I think your mad crazy K&N is dumping fuel into the ejaculator spaculator. :o

Re:ECU Swap probs...

NO NO NO!!! Not my ejaculator spaculator. those are bitch to get off and hella exspensive to replace.
;D
seriously though, the K&N was on with the old ecu, and it was run rich until it started to warm up, then i would go to stoich. i'm starting to wonder if the chip i bought from a guy was truly a stock '90 Si. it's not throughing any code though. *shrug*

Did you say chip??????? I thought it was just an ecu from a 90????? Are you not telling me something??

no, while i was puling the chip outa my stock '90 si ecu, i broke a leg. so i asked a guy to burn me a stock '90 Si chip, and he did (at least i think he did). that's all i've done. like i said no codes, just running rich.

I'm going to have to say it has something to do with the chip. I would check that out.

Re:ECU Swap probs...

actually, i drove it to ou new house lastnight, and it was stoich the whole trip once it got warmed up, but it was still rich (only about 1/2 way though) when i got there and let it idle. i drove it into work today, and it was a little closer to stoich at idle, so maybe it's learing my engine. i'll keep you up to day, but thatnks for the help so far.

Re:ECU Swap probs...

Well, if it continues to run rich, there is only one solution....

PUT A ------- TURBO ON IT!!!!!! ;)

Re:ECU Swap probs...

ok ok ok, i THINK i've found my prob. my coolant level is fairly low (thanks to a rotting radiator), so my engine temp gauge is reading warm before the O2 temp is warmed up enough to work. this make sense? i'm going to be look for a new rad, and then we'll see if that fixes my prob.
