ECU help?

I have a 95 civic ex with a d16z6. The guy before me had an engine swap in it, and didn't switch out the ecu, so I have a Mugen chipped P07. My vtec isn't kicking in, and I think it's the ecu. Does anybody know what ecu i should have? The P28?

Post pictures of the circuit board. Cali P07 are a P28, while the 49 state variant was wieeeeeeeeeeerd and can't be chipped - complaints associated with it are lack of, inconsistent, or sluggish VTEC and poor running under load. /

If your ECU is the correct one, and it's already socketed, the cheapest route for you to go is probably get a different chip.

Can't or no one has bothered to try? Hrmmm.

They COULD be the most powerful ecu yet.

There are so few that there's no point, IMO.

You must have seen quite a few. I have seen plenty, I get them all the time from people wanting to chip them AND I"M IN CALIFORNIA where we got the right P07.

You are letting your subjective perception skew your view. How many VXs do you see? Not a lot. Most are swapped and the stock ECU thrown away. And those ECUs... float... some ignorant riceboy always has one laying around. Go look up production numbers for the VX and compare them to CX/DX/EX/Si/LS/GSR etc and ponder on the objective reality of the situation.

I have 10-15 49-state P07 laying around. I've had half of them for 5+ years, I use them as parts especially since the VR pickups in OBD1 ECUs are starting to take a ---- at a noticeable rate.

The problem is that you don't take any notice of them.

And, most of the people heavily involved with disassembling and deciphering Oki code did not see them as a viable option. Yet they could have simply used the bulk of the standard code and the rest re-written to use the WB portion of the ecu. You wouldn't even have to mess with the WB MCU, only to understand the data flow.

Anyway, this topic is dead.
