Do i need to jump the rx and tx when its soldered into the ecu, or should i just be able to plug the cable into my usb and twist the rx and tx together without being attacthed to the ecu?

This is really confusing me and I really need to get it working, thanks for any help

jumping the rx and tx together allows you to echo in hyperterminal. The computer will transmit what you typr, then recieve it as if what your usb is hooked up to(nothing at the moment) sent it back. It's a test to see if your ---- is installed right on your comp before you try to use it on your ecu. If it doesn't work like that, no need to even try your ecu cause you already have a problem.

You don't want them jumped together when you're hooking it up to the ecu.

Thats what I thought just making sure, my ebay cable shows nothing in hyperterminal, i'll have to take out the radioshack one and try it.
