E85 Tuning

i'm gonna want to run e85 in my car, but ive heard different things about the tuning.
i did a google and found a few people that still tuned to 12.0-11.5:1 with e85? whats up with that? they said just the lambda changed??

bump, someday I am going to distill my own 100% ethanol! I need to educate myself!

tune to the same AFR as gasoline.

No, the stoich of E85 is around 9.0:1. Your lambda sensor reads oxygen in the exhaust. Two different things.

Tune it simlar to 93oct, if anything it will want to be a bit leaner in the peak torque range than gas.

thats pretty close to 8.7

Re: E85 Tuning

you gotta realize that all the sensor does is sit in the exhaust and when an oxygen molecule hits it an electrical charge is sent to the controller which plots it on a graph/gauge. the gauge you have will be ideal for gasoline but the amount of oxygen you want in the exhaust is the same.

Re: E85 Tuning

so your saying tune it to 12:1 in boost just like 93? i'll just have to add fuel from my stock map right?

Re: E85 Tuning

yes.

it will take approx 30-40% more fuel to meet the same AFR as gasoline so far as I have been told from a couple tuners
