I vote for the Toulene or Xylene octane booster if you've got detonation problems. And yes, this stuff does work and I've personally tried it. Just don't run them straight lol. Your final octane rating will depend on how much you mix with premium gas, IIRC toulene is somewhere near a 114 range, and xylene around 117.

xylene & toluene both work. i too have used both.

By rescaling the fuel maps according to the E85's thermochemical potential and stoich, inherently adding more fuel.
