I have a 1995 Cavalier with the LN2 2.2 OHV motor. I am working on a boost project and I know that my stock fuel system will start to lean out around 6 psi. The intake manifold is a 2 piece manifold, and uses sidefeed injectors. So I'm going to a salvage yard next week to pull another intake manifold and fuel rail off the same motor to take to my fabricator and hopefully he can convert it to use topfeeds and I'll run DSM 390s. The question I have is whether to go with a Greddy E-manage or an SAFC. I was thinking about using the SAFC to control the injectors but after reading a lot of tech about how the SAFC is better off the cars with MAF instead of MAP sensors, I don't want the computer to compensate and pull timing, then it'd be worthless. I hate FMU's so I am wondering what my best idea would be? Injectors, fuel pump, do i need a fuel pressure regulator also?

really the only "best" option is full controll, you can look at e-manage and aem ems, if you have the money, otherwise maybe megasquirt would work for cheaper? www.megasquirt.com your next best option is dsm injectors and an afc.....

i have heard decent things about megasquirt. the problem is that an SAFC doesn't work very well because i am MAP sensor not MAF. with my local dyno shop, my cost on an E-manage is $900 including tuning. so that I will probably go with if it is recommended.

Plenty of honda use a Map and AFC just fine...you could use that but it will ADD timing, not pull it.

Megasquirt is a good option if you are more of a DIYer...emanage and tuning sounds expensive at 900. I mean, Emanage is a glorified piggy back really...and how long can tuning take with one of those things.

There has got to be better options for Cavaliers, unfortunatrly I dont know any. At $900, I would become a DIYer if I wasnt already.

with a map sensor, SAFC is your friend.

i wouldn't pay 900 for emanage. just to turn five little dials as a tune, rediculous

most likely they're using the E-manage tuning software, which, for a piggyback system, is pretty nice

but for 900 i'd get something else

so for now megasquirt is my friend eh. for those who have used it... which i have no where to start, what does it cost for parts, how difficult to install / tune etc.

found the site this morning, thanks. i have sent a few e-mails to people i know who have used it. looks like it should work
