dx to si distributor wiring
so my friend is working on his dpfi to mpfi swap and ive finished everything besides the distributer wiring we wend to 4 or 5 wrecking yard and couldnt find any si's to take the harness from so we dont have the distributor plug. i thinking we could use the quick disconnect plugs with the heat shrink on the end to replace the 2 clips. would that work? how do i know which wires to connect to eachother?

Re: dx to si distributor wiring
You are using an Si distributor correct? You should be able to just match the wire colors and solder the connections that way, eliminating the plugs. You won't be able to disconnect the wiring for removal if you ever need to but it should still run.
Another way to find the wiring is to look for the pinouts on the net before cutting the plugs off. Label or copy down the wiring and your set to start soldering. You will also have a few (2 I beleive) extra wires to run to the ecu but thats no big deal. Also, be careful when matching just the colors. There's 2 white wires that appear to be the same but if you look closely, one white wire is actually thicker than the other. That can cause a no start situation. |

Re: dx to si distributor wiring
No.
The only wires you swap over are on the "Round" plug. The 7 wire plug. The two wire plug just plug it into the two wire plug on the distirbutor. (BLue, and Blk/Yel, if I remember right) The 7 wire plug on the distirbutor is what gets the original 5 wires from the DX, and the 2 extra that you run directly from the ECU. |
