Hello my friends I new to the forum and I have to ask a question that has proably been ask before. I am piecing together a custom turbo kit for my 2000 Sohc D16y8. I have the missing link, a Blue box from a 2000 Si Greddy Kit and a 10:1 FMU. Do I need all of these parts or will the blue box suffice if I don't plan on running over 7lbs of boost.
Someone who knows please help a rookie

 

So you think the Blue Box wont work.

 

It will work, but they are junk IMO. I would just rather run the FMU and not ---- with the shitbox.

sell the missing link, the blue box and the fmu, then buy a vafc and some 450cc injectors. :P

Blue Box sucks... FMU sucks... You're going to risk a nice little D series motor. The AFC is a hack, yes, but at least it's more stable than the violent fuel pressures you'll reach at 7-8psi.

The Blue Box? ..uhg.. does GReddy even support that thing anymore? I don't think so.

 

Just how stable is the AFC Hack? For a small turbo (T25) running low amounts of bost (~8psi) would it work almost as well as a proper tune?

 

No, but it's stable.

A "proper tune" won't advance your ignition timing. But the AFC hack is the most stable, and efficient of all of the ghetto methods of fuel management.
