Default Datalogging

I'm new to this stuff, turbo'ing my civic this weekend, and I keep hearing about datalogging, palm piolets, etc. what is this? Do I need This?
I'm running
SOHC ZC motor
MSD ignition w/boost retard
Apex'i VAFCII controller
DSM 450cc blue tops
BMC header, TDO5H ported turbo
Greddy front mount intercooler
HKS SSQV

I have no ecu work done, P28 ECU. Advice?

also the little chip in my MSD 6A (there when I bought it) is 7000 RPM. What is that chip for?

Hrm, I wish someone would take the time to write an Engine Management Frequently Asked Questions thread that has all of the answers to the frequently asked questions in the Engine Management forum.

That way, before someone asked a question that may be frequently asked about engine management the answer will already be there.

...ya, that'd be a good idea.

you need the wideband O2 sensor and controller to run the sensor properly

you only need a display if you dont have a laptop to display the A/F ratio
