Default D16 Distributor Squeak

hi there....

yesterday i picked up a wierd sound coming from the engine bay, popped the hood and found that it was coming from inside the distributor (I think). ...almost sounds like while the rotor is spinning inside, the shaft is rubbing up against some other metal section. I haven't opened it up yet, but will do so later today. Ignition doesn't seem to be negatively affected - the car still hauls ***, just that goddamn squeak.

Thought maybe anybody has run into this problem before...its a 4th Gen, d16A7 - (non-vtec, SOHC)...as I've never had any need to work on distributors before....

kthnx!

Yup.

Mine first through a CPS code, then it seized up to the point where it was hard to start the engine. I can't actually turn the old dizzy by hand anymore.

Get a new one ASAP like Bone said.

thnx guys...is there no way of just replacing the bearing, (just having the dizzy reconditioned instead of having to buy a new one?) I haven't enquired as to cost, but I'm guessing it's nowhere near cheap for a new one.

Something like 100 plus bones for a new one from Dizzy King.

I would and did just buy a used replacement.

Reminds me what happened to my dizzy on my Zc. The dizzy didnt have the gasket inbetween the cap and distributor housing. Pretty much fucked that ---- up.
