Crome on a mac??

I purchased a mac laptop the other day, and am handing off my old windows laptop to my dad. Anyway, It just occured to me that I might not be able to datalog on my new little friend.

And I just realized, it does not have a serial port, so unless I get an adaptor, my innovative wideband will not plug in for sure.

Well Damn.

I don't think any of the tuning programs will work on a mac. Can't you datalog with USB? If you can get the hardware to work, go download Virtual PC from Microsoft. I will hook you up with a legal key for cheeeap. ;) This will allow windows to run as an emulator on your mac, and it should let everything work.

Yea, I can datalog with usb, but my Innovative LC1 is serial (ill look around for a serial/usb adaptor)...
And yea, the windows emulator is a good idea. Thanks. Illl prob need that anyway.

Ill pm you about a key.

There is alot of lag time on the mac when using virtual PC. When I tried to use it, it got everything to connect but the information was updating really slowly. It was an older mac but I think it has to do more with the mac having to it translate and the process it to the windows software.

If you want, there is a Mac rom editor on PGMFI in the OBD 1 forum. I don't know how far along it came before it came to a stand still at the moment but I think they said datalogging is pretty stable. I can't tell you for certain cause I could never get it to work (I am using too old a version of the system software) but it can't hurt to open it up and give it a try.

forget about VirtualPC, totally.
You can either run Parallels Desktop and use a USB to serial adpter, or just install Bootcamp and run windoze natively. You still have to get a usb to serial adapter.

If you're gangster you can install ubuntu on that laptop and have a functioning computer rather than a magnet for vw driving poofs. Then you can run wine to run any windows data-logging software.

You can always run Windows on your Mac? I've got a iBook but don't do much with besides net ---- and for my music...iTunes and Garageband.
