Converting 88 pg7 auto ecu to manual

My local yard has a wrecked 88 ls auto and was wondering if there was a way to convert the ecu from auto to manual.

Anyone. Is their a way to convert these without chipping them.

Without chipping, no. It's not possible. Due to the automatics code that is held in the microcontroller, it has certain routines that will make checks different sensors and solenoids.

Because of these checks, it will throw a CEL. The normal process to convert to manual is to make a few hardware changes, jumping a connection here, snipping a resistor there, that sort of thing. Then you rechip the ECU with a "manual" program that would not contain the code to check for those sensors and things in the automatic.

Now, back to your original question, can you convert an 88 PG7 from auto to manual?

Heh, I don't know.. ;D

Yep, you can. 88-89 PG7 = 88-89 PM6... you need 40 pin flash MCU *or* daughterboard so you can run the usual 27C256 memory.

With these ECUs, it seems to be all in the code.
