CODE 6 Help!!!! PLEASE
I swapped a B18A1 in my 93 hatch. Chris (moderator) chipped my ecu for me (P06) to run the proper N/A stock map. I dont have an O2 sensor on my car yet (welding in the bung this weekend), but I'm throwing a code 6. I have the proper wires hooked up on the motor, temp guage isnt working either..?? I cant think of what else could be wrong? I tried hooking up the O2 just to see if that was the problem , but it still throws the code. Any suggestions???
I searched but found no real help w/my problem, so any help is appreciated! thanx. |
Re: CODE 6 Help!!!! PLEASE
B18a blocks have the coolant temp sensor in the back of the block near the oil pressure sending unit. Other vehicles have it up near the thermostat...you need to relocate the wires and hook them up correctly most likely.

Re: CODE 6 Help!!!! PLEASE
I used the water neck from a OBD1 B18B, so actually I have 2 coolant sensors. I'm using the one on the water neck, and I think its sort of working. I tested it w/a multimeter and Its getting 5V, and its sending (cold) about 1500 ohms. it should send 2,200 - 2,700 ohms when cold, so i think i've narrowed it down to that sensor. I'm going to switch sensors and see if that changes anything.

Re: CODE 6 Help!!!! PLEASE
the "sensor" your testing is a switch,... the fan switch. The coolant temp sensor, the code your throwing, is the sensor located under the dizzy. The single wire sensor is for your temp gauge on your cluster and the 2 wire one next to it is for your ecu and will throw the code 6
