Code 3 on 96 teg on 7psi?

hey guys, got my buddy's 96 integra ls turboed the other week, for some reason teh wastegate, internal, was stuck at 3 psi, its a garrett super 60. So we made a boost controller today and bumped it to 7psi now.

Heres teh deal, hes runnign an safc with 450's, resistors soldered in the injector wiring, and it ran beautiful when it was at 3 psi. Idle'd great, boosted nice, just ran nice for an afc managed car.

Well, now when it jumped to 7psi, it threw a code 3, which if its the same for obd2 as obd1, it is a map code, which i though shouldnt come on until over 11 psi. Hes running nicely rich in boost, idles fine, crusies fine, but pops the code..........

It will also pop a code 45, ???, every once in a while, also did that before we upped the boost, what could be the problem. Settings are -35% all the way across, except -34% in the upper full throttle rpms...

35 at 7psi shouldn't be popping the code I would think maybe you would want to have the setting at -40% all the way across or idle -40% slowly moving to -35% toward high rpm. Maybe the -34% is setting it off because its not cut the sensor signal to the ecu enough!

maybe, i dunno, i have mine set at -33% on an obd1 p28, and its fine, but i dunno, ill play with it, can you use check valves on a afc setup?

Re:Code 3 on 96 teg on 7psi?

7psi on a stock Honda MAP is about ~4.4v.

4.4 - (4.4 * .34) = ~2.9v

This should not be causing a CEL. It's close to the ~3.1v cap, but not close enough.

Are you sure your wastegate spiking 8psi or so, and and your boost gauge is off? What does your AFC read as your max pressure (in mBar)?

8psi would cause a CEL with a 34% cut.

4.62 - (4.62 * .34) = ~3.1v

Oh no ---- eh, lol, maybe ill decrease the settings, thats where it hits the cel, when i cahnges to -34%, cool, ill play wit that. Now go figure out the problem with my car, the cant cruise thread, lol, still havent figrued that one out, just swapped dizzys and set timing to about 8 degrees retarded, see if taht helps...

with my old setup i would get a code at -35 but not at -36. i think thats around the limit.oh that was at 10psi.

Ya.. OBD0 vs OBD1 vs OBD22 (probably) has minute differences in the voltage scale.

Also, elevation would could also effect it.

you could put check valve but I don't know if that would help...it would just bleed the line of boost characteristic but with the afc it change the signal itself, worth a shot i guess

Re:Code 3 on 96 teg on 7psi?

Bleeding off boost would throw your "fuel maps" way off.

The AFC _needs_ to see boost. Otherwise, you'lll end up not upper pressures of your maps... thus, running lean at higher boost pressure.
