chips in backwards

Just want to make sure I don't do this, i'm chipping my ECU tommorow, which way does the label on the chip face. How do I make sure I don't put it in wrong?

There's a notch on the chip, it goes on the left. If you ever forget, all the chips on the ECU have the notch on the same side, just put yours in the same way. -Z

Heh, to clarify "on the left", the side with the notch in it indicates where pin 1 is on the EEPROM.

Pin one in the socket soldered to the PCB faces is closest to the ECU plugs.

So... the notch points towards the capacitors you have to install, also towards the 74HC373. Right?

Points towards the ECU plugs. Where you plug in the wires from the car. ;)

Yeah, sorry if that was unclear...I meant that the notch would be on the left if the ECU was installed in the car. -Z
