Chipped P06, Iacv not working
 

Ok I have been messing with this for the past week, and havent got anywhere with it...

The car is a 1985 sedan, converted to fuel injection with 1989 integra motor (D16A1) and full 1989 integra wiring. It ran perfect in stock form until I tackled the obd1 conversion. I got a harness from rywire and chipped P06 ecu from xenocron, both seem to be in good shape and have been tested so I am positive they are good. I have tested 4 different IACVs, 1 coolant temp sensor, and checked all the wiring for shorts/cuts.


Whats happening is that I'm throwing code 14, and the IACV doesnt seem to click when given power or do anything at all. Because of this cold idle is shitty and it also stumbles on itself if I take the revs up to 3k. Past 3k it seems ok. Anyways this is just a two wire IACV.. 12v comes from the main relay to one side of the IACV, and the other wire returns to pin A11 on the obd0 harness side, which then goes through rywire harness to A09 on the obd1 ecu. I have checked voltage at the ecu and it is getting roughly 10.5 volts on A09 when the key is on. I never messed with the IACV at all so the reality is that it should all work fine. I removed the A9/A11 IACV wire from the harness and let the car idle, then tapped the IACV wire to ground. The IACV clicks and idle speed comes up as it should. So basically the ecu doesnt seem to be doing anything with the IACV signal.

I attached a wiring diagram for an 89 integra showing 12v goes to A11 AND pin A17, dont ask me why. The obd0 ecu already gets 12v from A13 and A15. My rywire conversion harness doesnt have a wire for obd0 pin A17 at all so it is left blank right now. Maybe this is the problem maybe not, either way hopefully someone here has some kind of idea. At this point I just want to fix it since it has wasted so much of my time... But if this is a no go I will just block it off and use the 10w resistor to prevent the ecu from throwing the code

IACV on a Honduh is some useless ----. Just block it off, you won't notice a difference in idle characteristics after you adjust throttle stop/air bleed.

A 10w resistor fools the ECU? I normally just leave them plugged in + blocked off, and I heard discussion of using a 58 mH inductor to fool the ECU. Never got any deeper in it than that.

Hmmm alright I may just have to block it off. Only problem now is that when it is plugged in, I am getting code 14. So bascially even if I block it off its throwing a code and the car runs like crap... Maybe its in limp mode? I dont know what that feels like but it runs horribly under 3k rpm even with the IACV completely blocked. I need someone to plug my ecus in to do a quick test and see that they are working properly, and have no friends who mess with cars. If anyone can help LMK, I'm in the Everett area

It shouldn't throw it into limp mode because of the IACV.

OBD0 OBD1

B15 ----> A21 - Ignition unit signal (This wire is good)
B17 ----> A22 - Ignitor unit (This wire is non existant on my rywire harness)

Anyone know if this is normal?


EDIT: Yeah both seem to be the same signal apparantly... I think honda is just ------- with me again

I throw an IACV code when my car is cold, idles normally though.

i was told to use a 10ohm 10watt resistor (radio shack # 271-132) to bypass mine a while back...worked on my car till i swapped OBD1, then i just ziptied a IACV to the firewall and called it a day...

not sure about the "limp mode" either, but my car would never rev above 3500 with a code 14 either. it would just sputter and ---- above that...

Well after doing some more research, I think it might be something with the wiring harness in my car. There is no way both ecus are bad and are acting the same way.... So the area I messed with (mostly Distributer wiring) I will remove all the tape etc etc and see what I find. Maybe something is shorting out causing my ecu to throw a fit

IACV can be disabled in OBD1 P30 ROMs...just disable and unplug IACV...walla, no code...no stepper motor :)

When you say disable, do you mean via the bin? Do you have a link to the location?
Id search PGMFI, but I like being spoon fed, haha
