chevy map sensors on a honda???

ok i was talkin with my buddy and he told me about using chevy map sensor instead of my honda one which is the one that is located right on my THrottle Body. basically he told me take off the map sensor plug the hole somehow and take the three wires going to the map sensor and find out which wires are which with both chevy v8 map sensor and honda map sensor then wire them up and just put in a T in a vaccum line and hose it to the chevy v8 map sensor. he told me that the chevy map sensors will be able to put up with a little more boost and so it'd be better for me , but i'm getting my car chipped with crome soon so should i have to worry about my map sensor throwing the check eng, light????

Ya they are GM since GM makes chevy. Most people run the 3 BAR map sensors in order to accurately tune over 1.75 BAR as with the stock honda map sensor.

This will help you http://www.pgmfi.org/twiki/bin/view/Library/MapSensor

Yup they are limited and run about 80.00.

You can pick up a Motorolla 2.5bar (good to 22.5psi) for a quarter of the price.

BTW I still have 4 of these kickin around.

Depending on how much you'd like to boost, Id pick a MAP sensor that fits best.
Id only rock a 3bar if you were really planning on running over 20sih psi.

for 12psi-ish and under Id max the ---- outa a stock MAP.
for 12-15ish, GM 2bar
for 15-22, Motorola 2.5

If your cheap and lazy I can personally vouch that an OEM wont rupture <17psi, hahaha
Just tune your last colum to the desired boost level. You'll just have a nice, black smoke puffing rich spot on spool up between 9psi and your max psi. ;)

I like your thoughts...but I suggest to all boosted customers to rock the 2.5 bar for 2 reasons. It damn cheap comparitively...and it allows you to put in a boost cut in case that pesky wastgate line ever decides to pop off (happened to me a few times). Setting a boost cut will keep your motor from grenading :)

Those weren't 3 bar. The 3 bar came on the one and only '89 Turbo Trans-Am.

Motorola 2.5 bar can be had from Digikey for under $25 shipped.
