Cheapest, Easiest Way To Manage 14-16psi
Im new to boost but have read most of the FAQ's and such on here and TurboD16.
First Ill tell you what I wish to accomplish/use. -Sohc zc motor, forged rods, arias 8.5:1 pistons -stock head with zex valve springs/retainers and exospeed sr909 d16a6 cam -dsm 450's -large (24X7X3) intercooler -large t3/t4 turbo (unknown specs) I need a way to tune/manage this. I dont know much but I was set of going with the AFC hack but I read its only good for 10psi. I know Hondata or Uberdata are availabel but there not in the budget. Whats a saf/inexpensive/easy was to tune this car. And yes Im new so bare with my mistakes and silly questions. Thanks |

Use the afc to 10psi and trust that by the time you get that running you will learn all about turboedit. Turboedit is an obd-0 rom editor much like hondata, but freeer (is free-er a word? :D) You will find better luck by using the afc to 10psi until you get some research time under your belt.

TurboEdit?
I dont want 10psi lol Is turboedit just an add on to the s-afc we were talking about? So I still use my pg7 ecu |

Uberdata/Techedit not in the budget? IT'S FREE

Re:Cheapest, Easiest Way To Manage 14-16psi
Turbo edit 12 can edit up to 3 bars (about 21 psi). Its the map sensor that limits your boost. If you buy a 3 bar map and use turbo edit your going to be in the money

Re:Cheapest, Easiest Way To Manage 14-16psi
3 bars is 44.1 psi :-\

Re:Cheapest, Easiest Way To Manage 14-16psi
you CANNOT cheap out on your management system if you're planning on running 14-16 psi, especially if that's on a larger turbo.
unless you like throwing money away when you could have spent it on something worthwhile. save up, get a burner and a wideband, chip your ecu, and do it properly. |
Re:Cheapest, Easiest Way To Manage 14-16psi
You have money into the motor. Don't cheapen it out on fuel management, you'll blow it to bits at that PSI.

Re:Cheapest, Easiest Way To Manage 14-16psi
Save the money you were going to use on the Arias pistons and get the Suzuki Vitara pistons instead they'll handle 15-20 lbs of boost (do a search here and on HT). Also, get the Eagle H beams off ebay for $300 shipped, I've yet to find a better deal. That'll save you ~$300-400. Use that to buy a wb 02, rom burner, 3 bar map sensor (Summit racing ~$50). If you have a PM6 Ecu that ends in A06 or A09, it's chippable. If not, spend another $50 for a chippable PM6. That's what I'm doing anyway..
