CEL Question
 

ok so i have a CEL on my b18b turbo. lights up once for a long time, then flashes 10 times....meaning the Intake Air Temperature sensor. what could be going wrong with that? I took off my intercooler and just routed a pipe to my intake manifold because the intercooler was inside the engine bay and i figured that it didnt do much help - so i took it off. could this be my problem?

IAT sensor - the iat provides the pcm with intake air temperature information. The pcm uses this info to control fuel flow, ignition timing, and EGR system operation(if equipped)

my friends and i have notice a big increase in hp/tq when i just start my engine and then floor it vs. me driving it for some time and then flooring it.

could this sensor be forcing it into a mode where it only performs likel 75% vs when it just starts up and is at 100%

anyone follow me?

Have you checked for continuity? Just to make sure the wire didn't break in the casing? I had that happen on my EACV.. piece of ----.

i would have to look, but i dont think it did...what else could be triggering this???

Not much else. I think it's connection based, or a bad sensor. Try connecting it to your ECT sensor and see if you change codes (they send the same voltage back to the ECU). If you do, switch back, and if you throw IAT again, you probably have a bad sensor.

will a bad sensor result in not optimal performance???

I have mine hanging in the engine bay near the bottom. There was no spot for it after my swap. Seems to run great though.

Heh, yes.

Cray's situation is perfect.. If the sensor is functioning, it doesn't really matter _where_ it is. As long as it's functioning. :D

..so your problem is probably a faulty sensor, or wiring.
