CEL in boost but no codes...

well, i finaly got this thing running on a decent street tune and i freakin love it! its fun as hell does 70 mph burnouts like it aint nothin. im running a ls motor with a .48/.60 DSMs and a converted p28 on crome. i was driving around yesterday and i layed into it one good time and the CEL comes on and it starts backfireing and spitting and sputtering and wouldnt run for ----. if i slowly push on the throttle it wont do it everytime only some of the time but if i just nail it in 2nd or 3rd it starts doing it. i go to check the codes and there arent any...? i dont THINK im over shooting my stock map sensor at a little less than 10 psi but its always a possibility. the CEL has been flashing randomly befor too but i never throught much of it. i also got my 2.5 bar maps from freescale thursday, does anyone know how to wire them yet?

check your chip out if you have a burner ... the cel maybe set-up as boost cut, vtec light or any option.. not sure if crome has the same options as TE but it worth a try

Got my 2.5 bars Thursday also. I just wired mines today. In a OBD1 DX the wires were different colors. OBD 1 CX and VX has the same color scheme as OBD 0 cars. Weird...

looking at the top of the sensor from left to right what pins did you hook the wires to? should have a 5v ref., a return, and a common or something. im going to check my programming today and see if itll tell me anything

Re: CEL in boost but no codes...

Pin 1 is the pin with a notch on one of its leg:

Pin 1 = Reference wire should be white on the car side (for some reason mine was pink/wht)
Pin 2 = Ground usually Green/Blue
Pin 3 = 5v should be Yellow/Green

Thats for OBD 1 DX wiring...I know VX and CX map sensor wire are like OBD 0 colors one of the color is red/something and its the 5v wire. Hope this helps.

thats on the 6 pin free scale sensor that everyone was getting for free?

i fixed the problem with the cutting out i think. i hasnt done it since i went back and reburned my chip. i took some fuel out to bring my af ratio back up around 14. i reckon it was a bad burn.

yups...the others pin 4-6 are internals used by the motorola 2.5 bar map sensors. Go by what it posted at xenocron's webpage.
