CEL with AFC HACK

just got done with the hack and so far i love it! way better than the shitty fmu! anyways, when i'm in any gear above third(3rd, 4th, 5th) and hit boost, my gauge goes to about 9-10 psi and i sometimes get the map sensor engine light. my a/f gauge still reads 2-3 bars rich. is it just that my map sensor cant go anymore or that i may need to lean out the top rpm's a bit? my set up is a D16a6 stock, T3 42/48. my afc settings are

1-2k -40
3k -39
4k -38
4k & above -39

it still reads about 2-3 bars rich. from -35 to -37 on upper rpm's in 3rd gear, it would still go off. i tried -38 and it was all good then it spiked to 10-11ps and i guess thats what set it off. i think -39 would be almost perfect. i'll try it. any ideas though....? also, when you lean the settings, are you cutting the voltage to the map or increasing it? so if i need to cut more voltage out of the map, i would add or lean fuel?? sorry for long post

think about it like this.. the AFC is a voltage modifier. it modifies the voltage of the MAP sensor. so if its 3.0v - 30% or 3.0v - 40%.

uh, i dont get it? that what??

Re:CEL with AFC HACK

ok.. the higher the MAP voltage the ECU see's is how much boost/vac is currently in the engine.

example, not accurate to actual voltage/vac/psi.

0v = -20vac
.5v = -10vac
1v = 0vac
2v = 1psi
3v = 3psi
4v = 7psi
5v = 10psi
etc...

so you have your afc set at -30%

say you're reading 10 psi on the boost gauge..

5v-30% = 3.5v
5v-40% = 3.0v
5v-20% = 4.0v

get it yet?

again you can see why you are getting CEL's. You are not scaling it back enough to keep the ecu from seeing positive pressure (boost) but just if u scale it back any more you risk running lean. Maybe you should get slighly larger injectors or consider a turbo edit solution?

well, i'm using the 450's? those should be sufficient! i think cuz it spiked to 11psi thats why it went off. at 9 psi, its fine at -39 to -38. i think right there is my good spot but i just need to watch out for the boost spike. it was with no downpipe also so with the downpipe on it should help a bit with the spiking, i think. i'll go try...

Re:CEL with AFC HACK

I spiked over12psi every cold morning. NEver threw a CEL on a -40% to -36% through my RPM range.

Make sure your boost gauge is accurate. Have you tried watching your AFC and getting the bar reading from that? 10psi should be about .69 bar on your AFC.

Re:CEL with AFC HACK

I was going to mention that next! my auto meter gauge says 10 psi but the afc will only read +.33 or so. something seems fishy... it wont go to .63 or anything which i know is about 9-10psi. i was also going to ask, on the safc, under settings, and i think graph scale to set the revs/bar for your car...where do i set the correction (Cr)? it gives +/-3, 9, 15, 30 i think? its on +/-3 right now???
