Car backfires shooting 6ft flames!!!
Everytime I boost, then let off the gas; and once I get back on the gas gently; the car back-fires.
It does it alot and I have tried tuning it out with the SAFC but nothing seems to work.
What is this coming from and is it bad for my engine? I don't have any exhaust just a downpipe coming out the side of the bumper. Would that cause the backfires?

do you drive your car with a pipe out your bumper on the street?! Thats crazy. Its not backfiring, its just becuase your pushing alot of fuel and when you let off it does not get all burned up and then blows up in your ghetto pipe that goes out your bumper. 6 ft flames,, i would have to see it to belive it. by the way i hope you are not shooting 6 foot flames for real becuase then you have serious richness problems. if you were backfiring flames would becoming out of your throttle body.

The exhaust valves are opeing too early while your cylinder is firing(incomplete burn propagates out into your overly rich exhaust pipe)...do you have cam gears? Does it happen every time you snap open the throttle while decelerating? or at certain RPMs? What is your timing set at?
Try messing with the Dec. setting on your AFC. It is supposed to help out with problems like that.

No black smoke coming out of the downpipe. The backfiring only happens when I decelerate and try to get back on the gas.
It happens when I gently try to open the throttle slightly, I can open the throttle at 3% and it still pops or backfires after the deceleration. This usually happpens from 2500 to 4200.
I noticed that on the blue wire mod of the AFC, the car really leans out when I get off the gas. How can I correct this or is that just the nature of the AFC?
