I'm sure there are other ways but i'm computer illiterate this is what I do:

Start, right click over My Computer
Select Properties
Click Hardware Tab
Click Device Manager button
Click the + beside Ports in the tree
Double Click the name of the device you want to change the port for
Click the Port Settings Tab
Click the Advanced Button
Change the Port number

Not likely. XP (and likely the dog named Vista) won't assign two different devices the same port number. What should happen is anytime you plug a certain device into a certain port it will always come up as the same COM port, unless you change COM ports like Tim mentions. If you plug the same certain device into a different port it will generate a new COM port for that device, and anytime you plug that device in it will come up as that port. It's real easy for me to generate 60+ COM ports by having eight different USB-serial devices and three USB ports, since some software is only designed for COM1 or COM1-4 (1-8, 1-16, 1-32, etc) I had to clean that ---- out a while back. Now I have a certain port I plug certain cables into and haven't had to reassign anything recently.

Why don't you plug both Ostrich and datalogger in and see what COM ports are assigned?

I will, But I havent had a chance to even mess around with my new ostrich in yet. Im gona be doing a little fine tuning on a friends car on monday and I want to kinda figure it all out before I try it out and end up smashing my laptop in my driveway....lol

Im not a very computer savy person. I can surf the web, burn chips and open up te, crome, freelog, and ecucontrol....lol and thats about it. Thanks for the help guys

You have a confusing couple hours you need to spend before this stuff starts really clicking, but it isn't a whole lot harder than what you can already do. Hit us up if you run into a problem, holmes.

Re: Well how the hell do I separate my usb ports?

ok so I did some tuning today on his car. Everything was ok, but I couldnt get my ostrich 2.0 to conect to turbo edit 2.6 But I did get it to conect to turbo edit 3.1.9 Did my tuning everything was ok, untill I saved the file on my computer, went to burn it to a chip, put the chip in ant it threw a solid cel. I tried it again, same results. ???

I think it has somthing to do with te 3.1.9

So I copyed the fuel, and timing maps, and saved it to a differnt file. burned it to a chip and it was ok. ???

So now my question is how do setup my ostrich 2.0 to te 2.6? I was reading on moates and it said I had so set the baud rate to 920000. In te 2.6 the highes I can set it is 128000
when I try to conect I get

*** Looking for Ostrich..
*** Looking for Ostrich..
*** Looking for Ostrich..
*** Looking for Ostrich..
*** Looking for Ostrich..
*** Unable to locate Ostrich. Something's wrong.

Re: Well how the hell do I separate my usb ports?

You can't make a v2.0 work with TE 2.x, as you noted the baud rate isn't high enough.

What chips are you burning?
