can an ecu go bad over time.
I have a chipped OBDO PR3 that i bought 3 years ago. I worked flawlessly for a very long time. Until about 5 months ago, randomly it would start throwing a code, (dont' remember what the code was, but it wasn't 0 or bad ecu). Then just recently everytime i plug it in it just throws a bad ecu code. Car will start very very rough but just shut off. Same car, same chip, nothing has changed. What coud possiable be the problem? Thanks for the help.

What kind of ROM, UV or EE. |

I have seen injector drivers go bad in those ECUs (code 16)...
I just swapped in a good set from a cheapo PR4 and fired up and worked nice again :) |
Re: can an ecu go bad over time.
i know they go bad if you leave them on your coffee table and spill beer on them. but that is all i can vouch for

Re: can an ecu go bad over time.
thanks for the responses. I know it's not the rom, cause the ecu was working for a while then slowly went. Don't ever remember seeing a code 16, but that same problem went bad in my friend Accel Gen 6 stand alone and I swapped out the chip and it worked. i just don't get it with this one. I have a feeling they could go bad over time, but what does. thats the question.

Re: can an ecu go bad over time.
um proably bad wiring/sensors not the ecu

Re: can an ecu go bad over time.
THe ecu had no water or anything get on them and no oxidizing at all. And the car runs perfectly fine with a stock pr3 or another chipped ecu so I know it's nothing else but that ecu. Thanks for all the thoughts.
