HAHAHA, Nope. Good luck getting anything for under a small mint!!!

My buddy spend about 4-6x the amount for parts on his e30 M3 then I do on my honda!!! Airbooxes for 700.00. COme on!!! Yaaaaa I spent 700 and got 14hp!!!! Oh it real carbon fibre.

You be better of converting it to run a honda dizzy and use Chrome!

I have been wondering if megasquirt would be an affordable route for tuning a BMW. I have been considering custom turboing a BMW for my next project car.

Re: bmw tuning?

If you have access to a chip burner I can write you a definition file for tuner pro to tune your own chip.I do this for all the VWs and the motronic that you probably have is the same damm thing.Anybody who can tune tunerpro or crome could tune your car.

Re: bmw tuning?

hows the tuning and chipping done on them? the same way? heres a little vid from the other weekend, but ya it would be nice to help a few of my fellow bmw fans around here or at least point them in the right direction so they dont have to sell organs to afford proper fuel managment.

BTW,I'm also a fabricator by trade and my wife has a 525I(95) so I can build any hard parts for that motor.

Yank out whatever's in there and toss in a sr20det. There's a bolt in kit available and a harness kit so it uses you existing dash harness and everything else so your cluster works with the DET ecu and all the sensors. Little cheaper then BMW ----.

BMW ----?There is nothing shitty or expensive on a BMW.

I you do put something in a BMW that doesnt belong there you would put a GM v8 in it.Some of the BMWs actually have GM trannys so all you would need to do is change the bell housing.

wow.... that's like yanking the gsr motor out of your integra and putting a zc in... most e30 owners go with megasquirt, or buy a chip off ebay... I have 2 "aftermarket/dinan" chips/roms for e30 "i" and "e" models. Chips are 27c256 just like honda ecu's... and socket is already there. If he has a e36, obd1 i believe you can chip but obd2 i think you have to reprogram through the obd scanner port...

Re: bmw tuning?

so if a person is lookin for a BMW specifically to turbo which ones would be the best platform to start from as far as easily tunable?

mycrx 11-25-2005 03:47 PM

Re: bmw tuning?

ya my friends m3 is a 97 so its obd2. anyway to convert to obd1 and run the chip in the ecu? any programs for tuning? or since its bmw i assume you have to buy it. and besdie what shitty tune youd have by just a chip, all motors run different, and not the same tune will be the same.

Re: bmw tuning?

I'm in the process of figuring out the direct port programing on the MK4 VWs and if history repeats itself then the same procecure should work on the BMW stuff.Time will tell.

Re: bmw tuning?

e30 M3's r the ----, also is there anyway to convert the obd2 to obd1? without much bs? i know its prob not like a honda but im sure they are similar and somehow could be done.

Re: bmw tuning?

so ya the motronic program on that link runs at 200 bucks, so along with that, a wideband and datalogging capabilites? itd be very tunable right? im just sick of bmw guys seeing the DINAN chips and ---- saying they do this and that, every motor runs different just cause they tune a chip doesnt mean ---- on your car. ive seen many turbo kits ---- they are around 4-8k im like wtf u guys think u have to buy that ----.

Re: bmw tuning?

I've been looking into Turboing my e36 325is:

1. Megasquirt can work, with a lot of hacking
2. E-manage can actually work fully with some small DIY hacking.
3. The PerfectPower SMT-5/6 works.

What I would love to see is someone come up with a DIY way to reprogram the ECU chip (in a OBD-1 car). Someone started a forum about it here: http://www.and1c.com/forums/index.php? and there's a lot of conversation here: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=431228 It would make my year if someone figured it out...

An OBD-2 M3 can be converted to OBD-1, a bit of work but they do make kits for it I believe, and that alone gives you a HP boost.

Email sent. I have all the equipment and a 9? vw binfile that needs to be "tuned" for a turbo. I also have a bunch of bmw binfiles if anyone wants them.
