Default BMW motronic 528e 325e

I've made some headway with motronic engine management on 528e and 325e. Feel free to improve upon this please! I used GM ecu programs, and made an .ecu reference file for it. Hard part is naroowing down the eprom data locations. Sure would be nice if someone else with an eprom burner, an old BMW, and interest could help.

Yeah... I have a freind w/ a 86 325e and we just chipped his ecu. He seriously wants to go turbo but we don't know to much about management in a bimmer. I will send him a link

IPM, please visit http://pgmfi.crx-forum.org and post this somewhere on the site. Also, have you spammed DIY-EFI mailing list with this yet?

There have got to be some pretty hardcore Bimmer boys out there more than happy to learn. I'll pass this along to any I may meet.

Thanx Joseph,

I'll pass it on to those sites as well. I've an s4 dataman but no time currently to test out those remaining arrays such as WOT and IDLE fuel. Sure would be great to have more minds working on this. Also, no need to worry about a checksum on early motronic. It don't care.

Regards,

IPM

Default Well, I have concluded the M20 motronic, after car

eful examination, has maps of a couple of possible varieties. And not worth publishing findings to make posible tweaking the ecu to support turbocharging. This variant of motronic is limited.

Possible solution.

The m30 '059 motronic ecu plugs into these cars (3 and 5). I've done it. The m20 started, idled, but ran poorly at part throttle. So, assuming the pinouts on the connectors are really a match, m20 owners should just use a '059 box, DME editor, and map the eprom to suit from there. Just remember you will in short time fry the '059 injector drivers if you don't swap to high impedance injectors due to too much current. If you want to use low impedance injectors, snag a pair of resisor boxes from obdo hondas. Well made for the purpose. Find them in prior to '92 multipoint si's. Use dme editor to map your eprom in an '059 m30 box, see my post regardong m30.

Check turbo sabb and volvo at the yards for cheap high impedance injector upgrades that exceed the rating of 745i's.

Have ya'll wondered why there are so many turbocharged honda's? Take a d engine si car to 2001 at least, retrofit an hf manifold, mount the turbo via a simple adapter plate, burn an eprom, add 450 cc injectors and you double the hp for an easy 12 second car.

regards,

IPM
