BMW Complete tuning options <500$

All I see available on the cheap that will do right is a megasquirt system. Is there anything else out there? So many people run chips, its ------ish. I'm pretty much settled on MS2 but its not perfect and it is more expensive then I would like... but no other real options that I know of. Anyone else?

BTW, BMW 525i 1995 with M50TU motor

I've got a guy that is starting to feed me some info on German tuning solutions...I think most are flashes or chipped solutions, but the cost factor and results look promising. I'll ask him whats available...

Cool, I'm really interested.... I'm knocking my preturbo maintance out like gangbusters and worked on two more turbo installs so I'm getting much more confident. Tim and I will talk MS.2 soon if I don't figure anything out, but I am in no rush.

Email your info, be detailed as I have no idea what to ask for...I'll forward to him and see what he has in the arsenal for chipping or reflash solutions :)

ECU for ODB1 non Vanos M50 Engines and Vanos M50TU engines.
ECU is for same year 3 series is the 413 with the EPROM used is a 27C512 and uses an 8096 processor.
There are ways for people to read/copy the .bins for stock chips and the such, but as of yet the few companies who have been able to isolate/adjust fuel maps, tables, etc obviously do not share this information. There is a form of protection on some of the newer ECU's called EWS which can be and has been bypassed in the code by some chippers. Basically any information on reading the code that BMW uses or making useable code to burn to the chips is what we need... any sort of basemapping software that can be later adjusted, or any way to make chips with stock software that will allow use of a MAP or other sensor. Also, afaik nobody knows what checksums are used on the chips, there is no interface yet and I have not yet seen a working emulator although people are talking about ostrich 2.0 but that's still beyond me right now.

Is there any chipping/reflash solution for a 1995 BMW 525i with an M50tu VANOS motor that would allow for any end user adjustments? buying a chip for 10 psi on a specific turbo i less appealing then running an FMU and if there is 0 end user tuning its too much of PITA... is there a way to make a serial/usb connection to the ecu or use an emulator to mess with the chip once it has been flashed or anything like that?

Just any alternatives to the $1000+ piggy backs and one time chips. I completely failed at this post.

:X
