If you want to stay OBD0 and go standalone, I'd recommend looking into Turbo Edit. Very good tuning program to use and you get all the functions of Zdyne, ghettodyne etc.

Check it out there. You can download everything you need to start tuning right there. Any questions and TurboEF9 is the man to ask :)

You don't NEED anything to run it. You edit a rom on your PC. You burn it to a chip with a $60-120 burner and then stick it in your socketed ECU. They are working on some options to do datalogging and stuff with a serial port which would use your laptop, but I'm not sure how much is done on it yet. I haven't been keeping up. Anyway, just search and read the engine management forum for awhile - start with the "support" and "faq" threads at the top. Then ask away!
