Basics when creating a basemap
 

I was just wondering if some of the OG tuners would mind spelling out some basics of creating a basemap from scratch, and maybe a bit of the finer points of tuning. Google/search returned nothing very useful, but what ever happened to that online tuning course idea?

Heres a tutorial for Crome written up by Xenocron. Its pretty good.

Yup, just follow that and you'll be fine.

After you get used to it, you'll start doing your own variations of things here and there.

Basemap making has three critical components.

What Map Sensor
What Motor (or combo)
What Injectors (brand & size)

Everything from those three things can be developed from stock maps 'reasonably' close.

Other things that will change stuff that you just cant guess or account for...
- Battery Voltage or Alternator problems (also caused by shorting wires or corroded connectors)
- Radical cam profiles or cams that arent degreed to zero by the cam manufacturer
- Distributor timing out of synch
- TPS sensor fault or out of spec
- Parts you thought were something else but really were not

Oh awesome, thankyou. What about that online tutorial thing that the HMT members were going to host? I read about it somewhere, that's a really good idea.

an good an easy understood howto would be nice.
i know the basics, and have already done an work basemap for ITBS.
but my question will be always ignored on the most forums ::) and the pgmfi wicky or whatever they called dont help much cause it is most times down or only show things that are over my level.

mmm I agree its becoming a lost form now, im just gonna but a VAFC or somthing so much easier

VAFC is a waste of time when we have been supplied with such an affordable stand alone system. I just wish that somebody would be willing to ------ a little knowledge, for the benefit of his fellow HMT'ers at the very least. There would be less blown up cars because of it, whether you think that's a good or bad thing is the question.
