Basemap lean under boost.
 

Well, I tuned my vac. map today and everything went great. Now, here is the problem. My turboedit basemap from Xenocron was REDICULOUSLY lean under boost. I hadn't touched the boost map at all and he had it set at 118% efficiency and I don't remember what my WB02 read but in the same breath as saying "ok, go WOT" i also said "let the ---- off." I had to bring the boost efficiency up to 122% just to get it into the 13's AFR range. The car was starting to get a little warm so I'm going to let the car cool off and recalibrate the WB02 to test again, but this doesn't make sense to me. I really don't want to make a new basemap seeing as how this is the first time I've tuned a car and it took about 2 1/2 hours just to get my vac maps a good range. Anyone have any ideas.

Well unfortunately it is a "basemap". It's not meant to be a permanent solution to run your car off of and it certainly isn't going to be perfect. Things can happen. I've had Uberdata basemaps need to be richened up quite a bit in certain areas as well. It's just the way some basemaps act on certain setups/vehichles. you've got a starting point, now you can build upon it and correct the areas needed to give you a good tune.

just toss 25% fuel all over the boost maps and keep tuning.

obviously crome is much different but ive been building basemaps for people and i pretty much always use 130% efficiency multiplier right off the bat. Most times it ends up being rich in the midrange.

Yea, I'm just letting the car cool off for a little while then we're going to go run it again. I just thought it was a little odd because Xenocron's page says something along the lines of "if you made your map right you should be really rich under boost, if it is extremely rich drop your efficiency from 115 to 112 and go from there." I was just wondering if something was wrong. I'll probably bring the efficiency back down to 118 and kill off 25% and go from there. Thanks for the tips.

There is no real "target efficiency"...

..it's difficult to explain, but there is nothign wrong with being at 130%, 110% if it targets in your AFRs and gets you ready for tuning... it's just a helper to create a basemap. IT's by no means a "you need to run this for your car to work".

The basemap write-up was based on previous versions of code and TurboEdit...

I do all my own calculations outside of TurboEdit now-a-days...did you by chance change the boost efficiency yourself in TurboEdit? Because, yep...that would be WAY-LEAN compared to the 118% I use in my own calcs...

Nope, I didn't touch ----. I started today fresh with the map you made for me. I got the vac tuned perfect, and once I got some answers to this question I just brought back the efficiency to 118 and threw 20% more fuel in boost and 15% fuel when entering boost. Now it's running in the high 11's AFR. Just gotta fine tune her tomorrow. On a lighter note I called my buddy with a heavily modified 97 camaro z28 tonight and he had one hell of a jump on our car (traction issues on our part, can't launch above 1800 RPM) but once he had about 1 1/2 car lengths on us we matched his speed perfectly (he didn't loose us, we didn't gain on him) up to about 100 MPH. I'm excited to fine tune this bitch. ;D
