Bad chip?

I'm running out of ideas.. The only thing I can think of is a bad chip..

I was going to tune a turbo prelude for a friend today. We burnt a base chip and the car would start and sound normal, it had no symptom of being too rich or too lean, and then 5 seconds later it would die. So I went over my map and tried it again, nothing, so I made a new map incase I forgot to click something, still nothing. I changed the fuel multiplier, offset, tip in, and finally the fuel table itself all in attempt.
So we downloaded a pre-existing tuned map off pgmfi.org and still the car wouldn't idle. Mind you the AF at idle was 14.6 on every map. So for the final test we took a chip from Xenocron that came with the ecu, a normal H22 map and the car idled pig rich because of the 450's but it actually stayed idle.

There's no CEL's for anything. If the chip is bad does it show the solid CEL for a hardware error? I've never had this problem before..

get another chip and see what happens.. usually and bad chip/burn probably would give you a solid CEL

Yeah I'm gonna try that tomorrow it was getting late and for some reason I couldn't load the bin I pulled off Xenocron's chip and the kid I was doing it for was worried about losing his normal map so he could atleast move it around the yard.

thats what i was just thinking maybe bad burn.what type of burner are you useing?and what types of chips?if there sst's try delteing it and reburning if it still does it take it apart and look over the solder work.bad solder work can also cause a soild cel. your car will be in limp mode.

I'm using a Willem Burner I bought last year. I haven't had any problems with it thus far. Actually I used it a day or two before for a chip in my own car. There's absolutely no CEL's on the computer, for codes or hardware.

hum?im useing the same burner are u useing a printer for power?try delteing the chip and reburning it.fyi make sure it verifys the chip after the burn.try that then come back.if that doesnt fix it it might been something wrong in your bin

Re: Bad chip?

hmm.. I bumped the final multiplier up from .53 to .6 with a 50 offset under fuel tools and it's finally idling. :y That's weird. I've never had to spend this much time ------- around with 450's they usually idle right of the bat.

Re: Bad chip?

u might have did something worng with your fuel multipliers.try finding a bin set for 450cc inj.or try the auto tune feature and see what happens.

How many cc's are stock prelude injectors? This map says 240cc. I'm not sure if they run higher, I thought I saw it somewhere. Anyway could that be the reason? I've never had to really go through the troubleshooting of crome. ----'s gone pretty smooth every time I've used it.
