AT29C256 question

i am getting rid of the vafc and the msd 6btm (6btm still isnt hooked up) and im getting a batronix burner from http://www.progshop.com/shop/programmer/index.shtml and the AT29C256 chip and chipping service from http://www.moates.net/index.php?cPath=25. It says that the AT29C256 chip can be "flash reprogrammed many times without a UV eraser". Does that mean i can reuse that chip with the batronix burner alone or do i need other hardware, or do i need to buy several chips when all im programming is my own p72? BTW im using UD.

wow, i had no idea craig was offering chipping services, by the time you pay for the product, pay for the service, and pay for shipping, i guess it equals out to about the same as having someone else do it though, but without a programmed chip. to answer your question, yes, you can erase the chip and reburn it numerous times with the software that comes with your burner. you have no need for more than one chip unless you want to keep one good tune on a chip and then have another chip to 'mess' around with, that way you always have a good tune to plug in.

Why are you buying the burner from another place than Moates if you are getting the chip kit from there and having your ECU modded?

Save shipping and the Moates BURN1 eprom burner is a great burner.

I really cant believe Craig is doing this either...he is either really desparate or will immediately get overwhelmed with all of the "how do i use Uberdata" questions he's likely to get when chipping ECUs...not to mention like Projekteg says it doesnt come with a program on the chip :-\

I think that he will be able to avoid a lot of the questions if people know that the ECU will not work when they get it. He probably also tells people that he doesn't do support stuff, just chipping.

Re:AT29C256 question

25 for chipping service
15 for chipping kit
10-15 to ship ecu to him
10-15 for shipping back to you

that's the same price you could pay someone else and actually get a programmed chip with a good map for your car and aftermarket support. craig is clever by putting a low price on the 'chipping service' though, but then you have to think, you've got to buy the uber kit also, ship your ecu to him, pay for him to ship it back, and still don't have a programmed chip.

Re:AT29C256 question

It's kinda like a half assed chipping. It is cheaper than a shop doing it, but it isn't as good as most people on here would offer.

Im guessing he figures it will bolster his other sales (ostrich, BURN1)

Love the picture of the women soldering...guys, do you want your ECU chipped by a woman? :'(
