anyone with the smc+, what do you think ?

I'm probably going to run the smc+ on my setup
d15b7, 14b, dsm 450cc, 7-9psi

I'd just like to hear what some people who have used
the smc on a similar setup think of it?

I only really need the features the smc has,
and I have no interest in the safc's "blingin" looks.

so lemme hear it.

Re:anyone with the smc+, what do you think ?

takes time to adjsut, no high/low throttle settings, and the voltage clamp on my smc500 stopped working

..I also heard it doesn't give you the wide range of tunability that the V/SAFCs give you. (+/- 30% vs A'pexi's +/-50%?)

Re:anyone with the smc+, what do you think ?

actually it allows fuel cut of up to -59%
neither let you add fuel, so theres no + its only -

whats a voltage clamp?
would you say high/low throttle settings are really important?

Uhm, V/S-AFC let you add fuel..

voltage clamp limits the map sensor voltage, and the hi/low throttle settings would be nice to have, cine this just uses the same amount of correction the whole time

alrighty,
but then, what's limiting the map sensor voltage do?
is that what they do so you dont need checkvalves?

ah, you right.. did some lookin up :)

but that makes me wonder, if you can add fuel with the v/safc, then why do people buy bigger injectors?
why not just crank the stock ones up another 45% or so?

Re:anyone with the smc+, what do you think ?

Because of the method at which the AFC "adds" fuel.

I wrote this information into the Engine Management FAQ, section 2.
