Anyone here have experience with megasquirt or emanage?
Looking for management to make a decent amount of power. 350-400whp. Wondering if anyone has any experience with megasquirt or emanage. What can you do with each? Pros and cons of them? Is megasquirt as non-user friendly as everyone says? How hard is it to learn? Here are the links to both units i'm currently considering. Thanks for your help...

Go Megasquirt, I am!
Megasquirt is definately a challenge, and it seems overwelming at first, but once you read about it, and understand that your stock sensors/fuse boxes and ---- are pretty much going to remain the same, it gets easier. You can do anything with Megasqiurt. I'm picking up a Ford EDIS-4 Ignition pack, so I can control spark with Megasquirt/EDIS. Megasquirt II kicks even more ass, and there are more features. You can have outputs for a shift light, water injection, and possibly a FTL type thing. I was concidering both, but I don't know enough about the Emanage Ultimate. Anybody know the limitations of the Emanage Ultimate? I think we're both in the same boat man. |
Re: Anyone here have experience with megasquirt or emanage?
Like i said on JBO megasquirt is challenging, but its worht the expierence. there is quite a few people on JBo always willing to help with your set up on megasquirt including myself(even though i don't know half of what they do)
the cost and ability makes megasquirt an awesome choice. even though emanage is a good tuning device their is quite a few people having problems with it |
Re: Anyone here have experience with megasquirt or emanage?
Right now it's in the air over here. I am NOWHERE near ready to start tinkering with megasquirt. I try to read about it and gain some know-how, but there are so many abbreviations people use, I can't really comprehend what they are talking about. I think i'm leaning towards emanage right now just because a lot of people around here have experience with it. I know I probably won't be able to reach rediculous amounts of power with emanage, but at least it's more user friendly and it will be tuned right. I'd rather have a safe and solid tune and maybe not meet my hp goals than meet my goals experimenting with a program i've never even screwed with and having serious downtime along the way...

i was the same way, i wanted to run emanage, then i heard about megasquirt read up on it and didn't understand a thing they said. after reading the site like 5-6 times it started to come to me, all before i even got the megasquirt unit itself. once i got it it was much easier to understand and everything.

Re: Anyone here have experience with megasquirt or emanage?
I've got a 1994 Mazda MX-3 V6 running megasquirt'n'spark
Its an awesome system, seems daunting at first but really isnt. I'm running stock disty, and stock ecu is on board to control idle and nothing else. Running 6 550cc injectors and dyno'd 395 whp 397 ft lbs on 15 psi, untuned, junkyard motor and 91 octane pump gas... Ive had it going for about 4k miles so far, pretty reliable and I use an innovate LM1 to help tune. |

Read, read, read if your considering MS. Its a great system and all the info is there you just need to spend the time to learn how everything works. |
Re: Anyone here have experience with megasquirt or emanage?
I am interested in the megasquirt also but KLT-MX3 how do you run MS&S and your stock ecu in parallel? I am just hazey on the part of if I use megasquirt just for fuel on a low boost application do I have to get rid of the fuel sensors going to my factory ecu and just run new ones for the MS? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Anyone here have experience with megasquirt or emanage?
Not sure how KLT MX3 did his but I would assume he is still taking input to the stock ecu from all the stock sensors, grounds, powers and ignition trigger but is only outputting to the idle valve. You may also need to resistor the injector feeds to fool the stock ecu into thinking it is still controlling them.
Many sensors can be piggybacked for the second (main) ecu or you can run new ones. It all depends on the application. The Mega Squirt is getting more flexable in this arena all the time. Todd |
