anyone to get involved with a DIY ecu?

I know it's a bit ambitious and I know there are a couple of open source ECU projects around, but...

I am a software developer and cars are just a hobby. Looking at the existing aftermarket engine control units I believe time has come for a simple, clear and extendable EFI project. We have boards under $20 running at speeds above 100MHz, we have some great real real-time operation systems - I believe these things combined should make a very simple EFI possible.

Actually I have my test car running with my code, with hardware on the clumsy side:

Here are some HOWTOs to give you an idea:

Thanks for asking!

The new board works, it's a much cleaner hardware setup. Obviously just a baby step, but still - a good step.

Tomorrow I am mailing an assembled board to Canada and another one to Slovakia, hopefully things would go well there.

Still making some progress with all this, got a new even nicer board recently:

Open source as all the other stuff: rusefi.com • View topic - Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case

The biggest issue right now is the fact that I've reached the ceiling of my own car skills with this. While I've got the software covered, I am not exactly capable to tune a car from scratch. Desperately need some gearheads to try this :(
