Analog Values from RPM and Map sensor. HW Datalogger completed, now software

I've just completed my datalogger. It logs rpm,map and wideband to the serial port (rs232). Now I'm working on converting the values from values given from the rpm analog signal to the actual rpm value, same thing for the map. The wideband values are give on the techedge website. I know I have seen the map analog values awhile back but I dont remeber where.
thanks for the help,
Nick

Sinner,

I have created a little utility in Excel/VBA to help me with my tuning from my datalogs of my LM-1 WB.

Contact me via email(cwharris@optonline.net) or AIM (xenocron1) as I think we can help each other out.

I am also trying to find out the exact values of the MAP voltage and what Vacuum/Boost pressures they equate to...is this not definitively published somewhere?

I think there are published values for 3bar.. I'm not sure anyone has taken the time to do stock MAP sensor values as the popular commercial tuning software integrates WBO2 into thier datalogging, and calculates RPM vs MAP on a grid representing the current values that the ECU is reading from.. (remind you of anything. Heheheh!)

It sure does, but right I now I do NOT have that :P

What I do have is an excel sheet that reads in a log of MAP, RPMs and A/F in three columns...figures out what row & column to place the A/F ratio in and average all of the data in each cell for a well rounded number and an *idea* on which cells i need to change my settings and by how much (%) for the dual map BIN

Its pretty neat actually, and if I was sure of the voltages of the MAP sensor and if my damn RPMS would log correctly I would put out a copy for everyone to use.

I read in one of the tech2tech articles that 18 InHg = .95 volts and 0 InHg = 2.75 volts. From there I found all the points on the line(since the MAP is linear) that corresponded to the values along the top colunms of TurboEdit and found what voltage it should be. This is the most accurate I can assume I will get without actual published values.

The values going across the top of TurboEDIT tables are an average of what the actual MAP pressure would be reading form that column.

So I should be roughly close correct? Good enough to aid in my tuning?

No, they are perfect for what you need, right on the money.

OK, this is a little, (waaay) of topic,but...
What is the analog value for rpm? Someone on pgmfi said it is voltage pluses or something like that. So is it not a regular rising dc voltage (like the o2) like I was assuming? I was wanting to find a way to display the rpm with leds just for fun ;).
Now back to your regularly scheduled thread. Please pardon me.

The VSS signal is used by the ECM and the cruise control unit. The signal is a
digital type signal that is either 0 volts or 5 volts (see Screen Capture 16-1). The
frequency of the VSS signal increases with the increase in vehicle speed

vss and rpm are 2 different things.
vss = after trans
rpm = before trans.
