am i screwed?

i have a 97 accord automatic tranny. its obd2. so far i've found nothing for obd2 management, only obd0 and obd1. am i going to have to switch to obd1 and THEN chip/modifiy whatnot that ecu? i'm planning on either hondata s200 unit but to tune it myself i need to purchase a rom editor and some pocket programmer ----. i've heard of uberdata and buning your own roms but i'm not sure of everything that entails, help guys!

i've read that the safc hack is an ok way to do it but not all that good overall. what are you're thoughts. thanks again.

You sound like you are peeing yourself while you are writing this.

Yeah you can convert to OBDI and run uberdata. It will run you about $200 total. Then you just need to get it tuned.

You are looking at a lot more than that for Hondata.

Re:am i screwed?

i figured that about hondata. with the uberdata chip, i can do the install myself, soldering isn't very hard, but tuning it, where/how am i going to be able to do that. i need to find out more about how to tune it with the uberdata chip.

and i dont want to run the afc hack, i've heard from people its ont good, but since i'm only running 8psi on stock stuff, is it going to be that much a problem?

plan a is uberdata, plan b is the hack

also, what year was the obd1-2 switch, wasn't it 95-96? thnx

don't quote me on this (cause I'm not an auto tranny expert) but I don't think you can use uberdata with an auto trans

You can use uberdata but not hondata, I believe that is how it goes.

Unless BigWig didn't pick up the auto part, but I am pretty sure that you can use an auto with uberdata, you just can't with hondata.

Re:am i screwed?

aright so i'm gonna have to pick up an obd1 ecu off of another accord, probably just a 95 or 96 lx like mine and then off to uberdata i go.

still the question remains, how am i going to tune it. how much does it cost to use a dyno and tune it. the place that installs it i imagine is going to but anyone know the basics of how much that costs? thanks. i'll be calling around, hopefully find a good place.

Re:am i screwed?

You will need a P05 or P06 ecu. Is your accord vtec? I don't know too much about them, but if it is vtec you will want an auto P28. Go to www.ecimulti.org/uberdata and read up.

lol...ironically I have a Auto P28 and I just converted it to manual :P And my bro is using one of the auto's 5050's for his P06 VTEC convertion.

Re:am i screwed?

I've been told that you can't convert an auto OBD2 to OBD1 due to the seperate tranny computer thats in an OBD1 but is integrated into a OBD2 ECU. So basically by switching to OBD1, you have nothing controlling your tranny.
