All pm6's the same? wierd problem

Friend of mine wants me to chip his pm6 and I have done mine successfully but for some odd reason the guts are different on his. I need to talk with him to find out exactly where this ecu came from but the spot where I chipped mine looks different on his the chip is about half the width (IC4 or IC9 i forget) the only other chip that looks right has 4 less pins so thats not it. My pm6 came out of my 91 crx si was wondering if non si's use a different pm6 or maybe pm6 was used in different generation civics and maybe thats the problem.

Positive its a PM6?
Heres a link to pgmfi info about it. They say it was D16A6 Civic/CRX Si, like yours

Take a look here and maybe you can find out what it is and what it came from:

so the 88-89 cant be chipped? or atleast it would take a different chip. that pic shown about is like my pm6 that i successfuly chipped in the past

Correct. They can be chipped but it's more work.

k this must be a 88-89 ecu then. I will prolly just try his pm7 zc ecu since i already have the socket and chips for the 90-91 style.
