afc questions
which is the most inexspensive way to control you air fuel on a t-charged car? i am running a mini-me w/ a rhb5,fmu12:1, and a msd 6btm. if i run a v-afc do i still need the 6btm? i want to get rid of the msd unit all together. i would like to have something that is pretty much user friendly.

Re:afc questions
I will say, keep the BTM and get a VAFC. The VAFCs (1st gen) go on ebay for like $200, and there isn't a damn thing wrong with the MSD ignition.

Re:afc questions
would you say MSD BTM is a must for a turbocharged car? or can u just mechanically retard the timing? :P
|
Re:afc questions
You can manually retard timing at the distributor, but that all depends on how much boost you plan on running. There have been guy's on here running up to 10 Psi with the dizzy all the way retarded. But, you can only retard so much with that method. the BTM is probably a safer way to retard timing. or chip the ecu to retard under boost.
Another thing, you could use your VAFC to control some larger injectors (450 cc) instead of running the Vafc and FMU wityh stock injectors. FMU's are nother part that is really only safe to use under a lower boost application. Just something to think about. :) |
Re:afc questions
so where can i get my ecu chipped for a turbo charged rig. will this do away with any other add on like the fmu and the 6btm?
|
Re:afc questions
well where u can get it done really depends on what car u have???
88-91 - use Zdyne or Ghettodyne (requires 90-91 pm6) 92+ Hondata, maybe uberteg? or u can go el primo and use something like a AEM EMS |
Re:afc questions
how do you chip something? or does an experienced computer geek do it fo high dolla!
|
Re:afc questions
just get the afc and keep the msd. youll be better off. its much smoother than ghettodyne. those chips still have bugs in them and are not smooth at all.im boosting 10psi right now with no timing control just the afc. that dam thing works pretty good mang. ;D
