AFC with low C/R ?
 

I understand that using a AFC shifts the ignition timing up, and I also under stand that low compresstion ratio can run more agressive timing. Would AFC/450's and 8.5:1 make a safe combination generally speaking?

I do not have the custom burn ECU option for my car. :-\

So nobody has any comments on if the high timing added by the AFC/450's can be canceled out from a lower compresstion ratio?

You would be safer than say a stock C/R.

But if you have the time/money to install lower comp slugs...then just go DIY ECU (TurboEdit or Uberdata)...you'd be 10x safer.

How high are you planning to boost?

Sounds like a great idea. But it's not for a Honda, it's for my Escort. A low compresstion motor is free, or really damn close to free. All you need is a 1.9 block with a 2.0 head, and junk yard's practicly give those away.
There is'nt ECU support for Escorts like there is Honda's, if I could just pay 70 bucks for a chip I would, but I cant.

there are plenty of d15b7's running the afc hack with 9-ish or lower c/r's, so it looks like you'll be fine. then again, you could always try a msd btm.

A BTM would be your best bet to retard timing with your setup. Or you could take it out of the base.

as far as i know a BTM does little to nothing for the advance the hack creates...

I have read the same thing also. Plus my car uses a coil pack, so I'd need the MSD Dis-2.

I just went a head and tried low compresstion, works for me. No more deto, no matter what I try to throw at it. Even at the stock N/A timing. :)
