AFC and injectors question

I figured I'd start a new thread about this. I've got a boosted 96 Accord with VTEC, and no fuel management or intercooler. I'm running about 4 or 5 psi right now (the gate is set at 6.5, but I'm not letting it get there until I do something about the fuel and intercooler).

Should I get the SAFC? The VAFC will not work with my car, Apexi says the 5th gen Accord uses VTEC differently than other Hondas, so it won't work with it.

Also...I read that I would need larger injectors with an AFC, and that the 450cc DSM injectors are the most popular...will they work in my car? If so, where can I find some at? If they won't work, which ones would? Thanks.

Re:AFC and injectors question

I wouldn't drive my car boosted without fuel management or an intercooler. Stock vtec setting is just fine so go ahead and buy the safc. Yes you will need to get some larger injectors. You can get DSM 450's off ebay, forums like this one or dsmtrader.com, junkyards. DSM injectors are peak and hold so if your injectors are saturated you will need to install resistors. There is an article in the tech section about installing dsm's and resistors.

This is also a fuel management question so next time post in the right section. :)

you can also use 390's off of a turbo Probe or MX-6...one of the badder setups I've seen on here, the guy use Celica Alltrac injectors, imagine they'd be harder to find though....

Those 390cc injectors can also be found on an eclipse turbo with auto. trans.

Re:AFC and injectors question

Thanks for moving this.

I just ordered a new SAFC, so that'll be here in about a week. How would that work with stock injectors? Or what about new injectors? I think it's Venom who makes some that flow 10% more than stock. I know people who use the DSM 450cc ones set the controller to -30 something, right? So why should I go that big if I won't ever really use it? Do you think the Venom ones would be enough for low boost? I don't mind buying new ones, I'm just sick of getting used stuff off eBay and later regretting it. Thanks for the responses.

thats the whole idea! by lowering the injectors that far on the safc you in turn lower the map voltage signal which tricks the computer into not seeing boost, which is good because that way you wont throw a code ;) so just get the 450cc's

It's called tha AFC hack...You will need to get rid of check valves or missing link if you're using one of them.

Re:AFC and injectors question

Yeah, I'm using the Link. Well, if the 450s will work with my Accord, then I'll get them. They work for other Hondas, and I'm pretty sure they all use the same injectors (240cc). So I guess I'll find some.

Does the hack work well with the stock pump, rail, and fpr?

Re:AFC and injectors question

Yup AFC hack should work...look at the tech section for DSM injector install

Ok, will do. Thanks for the responses...I know there's a lot on this, but I wasn't sure if any of you had turbocharged 5th gen Accords...heh heh. Guess it doesn't matter for this setup.
