AFC/3 bar map sensor
 

I run 9psi with SAFC/dsm 450 on my 90teg(4drs on steelies ::)) and it run really great, even race a vortec supercharged mustang(7spi) on a roll on : 60 to 120 mph and beat him by a car lenght ;D. My Setting is -40 at idle to -37 on boost.But at -36, I get cel 3 for map sensor and I want to get more boost. I never see people running 3 bar map with safc. At 9psi the 3 bar map will send something like 2.5/3volt to the ecu, I can just drop my setting on the safc and my ecu will read the same voltage as with the stock map. Just have to do the same thing everywhere and it should be ok. I'm wrong or not? I speak french and not write often in english so give me a chance.

the 3 bar map sensor or even 2 bar map sensor seems like it would require extensive recalibration of your ecu or some ingenious settings on your afc to make it look like a stock map sensor. does anyone have any ideas>?

I think the 3 bar is a bit much to calibrate. They also lack a bit in resolution. The 2 bar sensor is a very good idea, though.

If the Honda MAP could return all 5 volts of the referrence signal sent to it, it would be scaled to 11.8 psi. The GM 2 bar is 14.5 psi @ 5 volts. That's not a big difference in how the sensors are scaled, you can tune it out with an AFC... I have a 2 bar sitting here for my car, as a matter of fact. :>

FYI, a MAP sensor works kind of like a TPS. Instead if a throttle cable moving the sensor so it sends out a different signal, it uses a diaphragm and pressure/vacuum to move it. 85-91 MAP sensors cannot travel any further than 9.25 psi (on the 11.8 psi scale) and 92+ any further than 10.65 psi. The GM sensor does not have this problem, and can use all of it's scale, up to 14.5 psi.
