AF gauge and WB O2?

I'm hearing a bell cause I'm probably gonna get schooled on this question. Will a AF gauge help me out any being boosted now? Reason I asked is because the stock narrow band doesn't measure in the range to properly tune off of. So would it be possible to run a VX o2 sensor with a AF gauge and get better readings or be more accurate? Ring...ring..ring..... :P

get a wideband... but its ur call

Re:AF gauge ?

So would the wideband VX o2 sensor be any different over a narrowband 4 wire o2 sensor for running a AF gauge?

No, because for a wideband o2 sensor to function you need a wideband controller (stock ecu won't do ----). Cheapest one is the Zeitronix ZT2 I believe (I <3 my ZT2 ;))

I mean to use the WB with the AF gauge. Keep the stock narrowband for the ecu to run off of, but wire up the WB just for the AF gauge or am I just on crack? Like I said it was just a question.

Re:AF gauge and WB O2?

A wideband sensor won't function at all without a wideband controller. The sensor itself has 5 wires. Ground, power, heat, sensor, and something else I believe. The sensor needs to be heated at startup to prevent damage to the sensor element. Also, a simple narrowband o2 guage can't read a lambda signal from a wideband o2 sensor. wideband sensor=0-5v and narrowband sensor=0-1v. Most wideband controllers do have a simulated narrowband output (to allow your ecu to read it, or you can hook it up to an a/f guage) but you CAN'T USE A WIDEBAND SENSOR WITHOUT A WIDEBAND CONTROLLER!

Re:AF gauge and WB O2?

std a/f gauge only reads voltage from a narrowband sensor.
