AEM FIC

Has anyone used the aem fic? It seems user friendly besides the wiring part. I wanted to use chipped ecu and turbo edit to save money but by the time u purchase the ecu, datalogging cable, chip burner and everything else you need it costs more than the aem unit and you dont have to reburn the chip everytime you need to make changes. that seems like a pain and costly when your paying someone to tune your car.

Re: AEM FIC
There is a dude on the lexus is300 forum that has had great success with it. The is300 ECU is difficult to tune around too. ODB1 or ODb2 or ODB0???? It seems to be a good unit. Someone on here was doing a Miata with it a while back...... :y

Re: AEM FIC
there isn't any tuners in your area?

Re: AEM FIC
their are two tuner shops in my town but they dont want to purchase or deal with what it takes to tune my car with turbo edit. they only tune hondata, aem or other piggy back units. they tell me its a pain to reburn a chip everytime they need to make changes.

AEM FIC is way overkill for an OBD0 setup... |
Re: AEM FIC
89 crx si is what i have. d16a6 weisco pistons/eagle rods/block gaurd/arp studs/walbro 255/dsm 450/stage 3 fidanza clutch with flywheel/t28 turbo/stock map sensor. I live in claremore oklahoma that is 20 min away form tulsa. The two shops that we have that tune are humbleperformance and toyspeed racing.Humble has been around for along time but have bad rep for messing up cars but they have produce the fastest cars in our erea. toyspeed has been around for a few years and the guy knows what he is doing but everytime you tell him what you want to do and what your goal is he tries to change your mind and go a differnt rout [the more exspensive rout].Its like he doesnt want to help you out at all.
Ive been working on this project for two years now. Im getting frustrated I want my car to run. |

Re: AEM FIC
That sucks. Any shop that tunes imports should be able to help you with more than just one type of engine management. Chipping an ecu is cheap for a shop that has the hole setup when they install them more than just one honda, ect. Sounds like you have a bunch of bumpkins there in OK...

Re: AEM FIC
I guess that is true. I assume they cater to the average joe and not the HMT crowd right? :6

Re: AEM FIC
I've got a F/IC on my miata and own the domain AEMFIC.com
it kicks ass for a piggyback but to be honest, it would be dumb as balls to get one for any civic when there are much better and more cost-effective solutions. Either run TE or upgrade to ODB1 and run Crome or Uber for pennies on the dollar compared to getting a $400 F/IC. With the $ you have left over (Say you went the TE route), you'd have about $300 left over. Spent $200 on a wideband and you've still got $100 left over. Tune it yourself and save another $250. Now you got a tuned ass car, chip burner, wideband and $350 more in your pocket than you would have had. |

Re: AEM FIC
i just noticed - why you got a built ass motor and a running a t28?

Re: AEM FIC
oklahoma city is real close it would take me just under 2 hours to get there. 100 miles. So how much are we talking about. [total price] tuning and everything i would need for you to tune car. As far as the t28 its what came with kit, its a ssautochrome kit i was on budget. May change later if i cant reach 300 whp with this set up.
