AEM FIC

Has anyone used the aem fic? It seems user friendly besides the wiring part. I wanted to use chipped ecu and turbo edit to save money but by the time u purchase the ecu, datalogging cable, chip burner and everything else you need it costs more than the aem unit and you dont have to reburn the chip everytime you need to make changes. that seems like a pain and costly when your paying someone to tune your car.

There is a dude on the lexus is300 forum that has had great success with it. The is300 ECU is difficult to tune around too. ODB1 or ODb2 or ODB0???? It seems to be a good unit. Someone on here was doing a Miata with it a while back...... :y

their are two tuner shops in my town but they dont want to purchase or deal with what it takes to tune my car with turbo edit. they only tune hondata, aem or other piggy back units. they tell me its a pain to reburn a chip everytime they need to make changes.

Not to get off topic, but is'nt that is what an emulator is for????, besides, the AEM ain't that bad but I would rather go with a burned chip if my rig would utilize something like that. What year is yours???

Where are you located?

AEM FIC is way overkill for an OBD0 setup...

89 crx si is what i have. d16a6 weisco pistons/eagle rods/block gaurd/arp studs/walbro 255/dsm 450/stage 3 fidanza clutch with flywheel/t28 turbo/stock map sensor. I live in claremore oklahoma that is 20 min away form tulsa. The two shops that we have that tune are humbleperformance and toyspeed racing.Humble has been around for along time but have bad rep for messing up cars but they have produce the fastest cars in our erea. toyspeed has been around for a few years and the guy knows what he is doing but everytime you tell him what you want to do and what your goal is he tries to change your mind and go a differnt rout [the more exspensive rout].Its like he doesnt want to help you out at all.
Ive been working on this project for two years now. Im getting frustrated I want my car to run.

That sucks. Any shop that tunes imports should be able to help you with more than just one type of engine management. Chipping an ecu is cheap for a shop that has the hole setup when they install them more than just one honda, ect. Sounds like you have a bunch of bumpkins there in OK...

alot of shops dont touch diy tunning there isnt a shop around here within 250 miles that tunes turbo edit or crome. time is money and aem is faster and easier and better for them.. however its expensive but they aren't theye for budget builds they are there to pay bills ;)
