Default adjustible c.g. needed?

do i need an adjustible cam gear in order to have the car tuned properly

I've heard of guys having overlap after boosting b16's for some reason. They had to use adjustable gears to fix it and get a proper tune, but I've never personally seen it. Also, if you have a DOHC that has been decked too much you'll need gears to make a correct TDC.
