sounds like cam timing, not ignition. you should of had your block milled like mine. I have 9:1 with my vitaras

true ,so if i use my adjustable cam gear i should be able to dial in stock ignition with retarding the cam?

yea, but the proper way to do it is with a degree wheel on the crank. I dont even know how to do it. I had .043" off the block and head. I set mine at 4* advanced.
