440's and turboedit PM6 installed, car not running?

hello all, just threw my 440's in my D16A6 turbo with a chipped PM6 running turbo edit and she aint wanting to stay running.

It will turn over but i gotta keep my foot on the throttle to keep it running and as soon as i let off, it will stumble and die.

I did notice that the injectors were not seating right, so i did read the faq and realized i need to bore out the injector seats a little.

im gonna try that and see if that helps any, but anyone have any other ideas?

i did start and run the car with just the turboedit ECM and it fired up fine.

The only other mods i did at the same time were install a B&M adjustable FPR kit and B&M fuel gauge.

thx for the help.

Jas

You did scale the map for 440's right? Mods should mve this to Engine management.

the chipped PM6 and map came from a fellow member from HMT.

apologies for posting in the wrong forum man.

mods, please move accordingly.

guessing its your fuel pressure, the maps in your ECU were tuned on an A6 locally and scaled for 440's (from 450s)

his fuel pressure = 41-45psi

yours = 62psi :o

thats about 33% more pressure...fuel is probably flooding your cylinders

Re:440's and turboedit PM6 installed, car not running?

sounds like the problem.

will mess around with the FPR and see what happens

Re:440's and turboedit PM6 installed, car not running?

installed a factory regulator again and psi still upwards 60psi..

*scratchs head* this is getting annoying..

Re:440's and turboedit PM6 installed, car not running?

doh...isnt this an adjustable FPR? cant you lower it or at the lowest setting its still 60psi?

quadtech 12-28-2004 08:21 PM

Re:440's and turboedit PM6 installed, car not running?

ok,

on the aem adjustable regulator, with the 440's installed and the chipped pm6, car wont run. with the aem adjustable regulator turned all the way up, the lowest pressure i can achieve is 60psi.

leave the adjustable regulator in, at the current 60psi setting and run the stock injectors, car runs/idles fine. Cant get into boost though as the car starts to buck and kick.

put the stock regulator in with the chipped pm6 and stock injectors and the car is still running at 60psi fuel pressure, car bogs and bucks in boost.

put the stock reg in with chipped pm6 and 440's, car will not run?

any clues guys? im lost here

Re:440's and turboedit PM6 installed, car not running?

your regulator is defunct if you can only turn it down to 60psi...you need to be able to lower it to 41-48psi.

Re:440's and turboedit PM6 installed, car not running?

the pls tell me how to turn down a stock regulator?

it aint possible to my knowledge.

as ive said, im not running the B&M unit at all right now.

current setup is stock injectors, stock reg and turboedit pm6

Re:440's and turboedit PM6 installed, car not running?

Are you running the HP Walbro Fuel Pump?

I have the B&M regulator and the regualr 255 ltr/hr pump on my car and my fuel pressure with hose off the regulator is ~45psi.

I would hope on the AEM it allows you a much greater range than the B&M and allows you to turn the fuel pressure down to where you need it.

You can't adjust the stock regulator unless you have the B&M and have altered it :-\

Re:440's and turboedit PM6 installed, car not running?

so far ive tried:

AEM reg
altered stock reg with B&M hack
2 stock regs.

none of them will allow me to drop base idle fuel pressure below 60psi.

something is hooped here, lol.

ill keep fighting with it and see if i can come up with a solution.

until then, any suggestions are more than greatly appreciated.

oh and in regards to the walbro pump, its sitting on my shelf awaiting install.

not going in until i can solve this fuel debate.

Re:440's and turboedit PM6 installed, car not running?

where have you tapped in for the fuel pressure gauge? is the fuel pressure gauge accurate, have you checked it against a known pressure? it sounds impossible that so many FPR's are not working correctly

quadtech 12-29-2004 07:43 PM

Re:440's and turboedit PM6 installed, car not running?

gauge is tapped in at the fuel filter.

gauge kit is the B&M fuel pressure gauge kit.

maybe your return line is clogged??? ???

Re:440's and turboedit PM6 installed, car not running?

gonna try a couple of things.

the car was originally a 1.5 DPFI, and apparently one of the fuel fitting holes on the filter end are smaller than the 1.6's and could be increasing flow???? its a far fetched idea, but possible.

im gonna replace the fuel filter to see if that changes anything as well.

also this car was a 4dr 1.5L LX. now a 1.6, but talking to a couple of buddy's of mine that are hondatechs, they were telling me that they came across a similar problem with a supercharged EG coupe and the prob was a dual feed fuel pump? now i dont know what the chances are of my car having a dual feed pump and could be causing the higher than normal pressure.

??? haha i dont know, like i said, its a far fetched idea but it is a thought.
